The baroque pleasure palace Schloss Favorite in Rastatt-Förch, just 6,5 km from Aqua Aurelia, is an unchanged jewel of the highest European standing.
Inside: the Florentine Cabinet with 758 pietra dura panels — unique in Europe. The world's largest collection of early Meissen porcelain. A show kitchen with gleaming copper pans and faience to match every dish. And the Sala Terrena, which runs through every floor of the palace.
Outside: on one side, baroque tree-lined avenues; on the other, an English landscape park.
From mid-March to mid-November, there are hourly tours. Afterwards, the palace café is worth a stop — pastries made from the finest ingredients, with a view of the park.
