You drive straight into the underground car park — no searching for a space with children and suitcases in tow. We place two suites next to each other wherever possible. With only 46 suites, everyone finds their bearings quickly.

Once you have checked in, the car stays put — the old town, Kurpark, the thermal spas and Lichtentaler Allee are all within walking distance.

If the toddler is awake at half six, nobody has to wait. Just head downstairs — porridge, pancakes and fresh fruit are ready. You are welcome to come back later with the rest of the family; that is never a problem here.

There are also freshly made omelettes, pastries from Confiserie Böckeler, honey from Geroldsau and regional cheese and ham. In summer, you sit outside on the panorama terrace with a view of the Caracalla Therme and the Neues Schloss.

Breakfast is served from 7 to 11 a.m., at weekends and on public holidays until 11:30 a.m. Children up to 12 eat for free; young people up to 17 at half price.

Tip: If you add breakfast when you book directly, you pay the direct-booking rate of 17,50 € instead of 25 € per person.

The Caracalla Therme is open to children aged 7 and over — put on your bathrobe, take the lift down and walk through the underground passage. Two minutes, and you are standing in the warm water together.

Friedrichsbad welcomes young people from 14, accompanied by an adult. Seventeen stations, a Roman-Irish bathing ritual, three hours of complete stillness — five minutes on foot from the hotel.

Children under 7 are not admitted to the Caracalla Therme because of the water temperature — the hot thermal water is simply too demanding for small bodies. For families, though, this is rarely a limitation: when grandparents or a partner take over for two hours, parents have genuine time to themselves. Many of our guests do exactly that.

Baden-Baden works across generations — because culture and nature sit so close together here.

For culture: At the Toccarion in the Festspielhaus, children can try out instruments themselves — a music education space that many families turn into a tradition. Museum Frieder Burda provides a children's companion booklet for every exhibition and regularly offers family tours.

For nature: The Geroldsauer Wasserfälle with their climbable gorges get children moving straight away. At the end, a place to stop for refreshments and the Lynx Trail. Nearby — easy to reach by car — there are also wonderful playgrounds. If you are a keen walker, take the longer loop — otherwise, wait at the restaurant until the others are back.

When the grandparents take the grandchildren to Lichtentaler Allee, the parents have two hours to themselves — at the thermal spas, over a long lunch, with a book in the park. Or the other way round: grandparents take time for themselves while the parents are out with the children.
