Christkindelsmarkt Baden-Baden 2026/2027 — Your relaxed visitor's guide

Why the Baden-Baden Christmas market is worth your time

For me, the Christmas market in Baden-Baden is where Christmas actually arrives — in those moments when everyday life otherwise sweeps us along, and suddenly the 24th of December is at the door without us really having lived the quiet part of the season.

The mood begins on the way there: the market sits so centrally that the festive feeling is already in the air across town. Every street leading to the Kurhaus is lit for Christmas. The closer you come, the more clearly you sense the warm lights and the gentle bustle.

The market has its own charm at every time of day — by day, the colours stand out; in the evening, everything glows in coloured Christmas lights. Even the walk from the hotel — along Sophienstraße, for instance — is so warmly lit that you feel it: this is where Christmas begins.

What sets it apart: our Christmas market stays open until 6 January — a rarity in Germany. That extended run gives you the time to make the most of the Christmas days with your family, exactly when the holidays have finally begun and life slows down.

Instead of cutting the festive season short on 26 December and rolling straight into New Year's Eve, the market makes for a gentler bridge in between.

Above all, it means one thing: time for the people who matter. Time with friends, with family, with your partner. Maybe an evening for two, or a quiet stroll with the ones closest to you.

A market with its own atmosphere —
what makes it different

What sets the Baden-Baden Christmas market apart is its range — there is genuinely something here for everyone.

For families with children, there is a charming little baking hut that the little ones love. My son always likes going there. Add to that traditional sweets, freshly roasted chestnuts, and at the centre a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

If you are looking for gifts, the craft stalls have one-off, lovingly made pieces — far away from the usual mass-produced fare.

Food at the market

Food lovers will be well looked after: alongside special cheeses and charcuterie, there are unusual specialities to taste and to take home. The food stalls have the classic hearty favourites like Langos, but the choice goes much further.

Last year there was wild boar goulash, Flammkuchen, and other dishes with a regional touch. That mix of down-to-earth and refined works particularly well, in my view. There are also concerts in the bandstand — sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned.

One big plus: the market spreads out well. It is never so crowded that you feel hemmed in, and you can step out from any corner without difficulty. Unlike some other Christmas markets, where you have to push your way through dense crowds, here there is room to breathe.

What the regulars do differently

Come midweek. No crowds, no hunting for a parking space, no queues at the Glühwein stalls. Instead: a calm stroll and a real Christmas mood. And if you stay with us, you also benefit from the noticeably quieter days — including in the suite rates.

Five minutes from the market — and still quiet.

From the hotel, it is a five-minute walk to the Christmas market.
Close enough to step over on a whim — far enough to come back to quiet afterwards.

On arrival, you receive a Glühwein voucher from us.
And anyone who arrives earlier — ideally on a Friday around 15:00 — starts without traffic, without hunting for a space, and with lunch in the house.
